Well, it’s a little bit more official: Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels are indeed reuniting for a true sequel to Dumber and Dumber with Dumb and Dumber To.
While teaser trailers have been randomly circulating through theaters for months, the idea that the trailers may be an extremely expensive long-con was always at the back of my mind. This is Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels we’re dealing with. One portrayed Andy Kaufman, the king of long-cons and may even be alive for all we know; the other seems to have found his calling in newsroom satire with HBO’s “The Newsroom.”
Now the public has not only a trailer, but a press release with a date as well: November 14th.
Once again, Harry Dunne (played by Jeff Daniels) and Lloyd Christmas (played by Jim Carrey) will embark on a trip across the country, this time to find Harry’s estranged daughter, with the Farrelly brothers directing traffic, so to speak.
From the press release:
Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels reprise their signature roles as Lloyd and Harry in the sequel to the smash hit that took the physical comedy and kicked it in the nuts: Dumb and Dumber To. The original film’s directors, Peter and Bobby Farrelly, take Lloyd and Harry on a road trip to find a child Harry never knew he had and the responsibility neither should ever, ever be given.
If the trailer is any hint at the the self-lampooning that Dumber and Dumber To will be offering, we are set for a wild ride ourselves.
